John D. Kemp is Vice President of Strategic Development for HalfthePlanet.com, an Internet resource for people with disabilities and the former President and CEO of VSA Arts, an international, nonprofit organization dedicated to promoting the creative power of people with disabilities. Born with a disability, Mr. Kemp uses four prostheses, and is one of only a few executives in his field who has personal experience with a disability. A graduate of Georgetown University and Washburn University School of Law, he managed a law firm that advised companies on state and federal civil rights, employment, and education laws and policies regarding persons with disabilities. He is Chair of the Civil Rights Committee of the National Council on Disability, and a member of the boards of CARF, The Rehabilitation Accreditation Commission, and the Rehabilitation Institute of Chicago. He also has been Counsel and Vice President for Development for the National Easter Seal Society and Executive Director of United Cerebral Palsy Associations.
