Meet Vic our Mascot
Vic, The NRH Medical Rehabilitation Network’s mascot, serves as a constant reminder to employees to provide the highest quality of patient care and customer service.
Adopted in 1999, the whimsical Vic character was selected through an employee contest to create a mascot. He derives his name from and is reminiscent of the NRH Victory Award® and from the similarly designed Victory of the Human Spirit® statue, which is the centerpiece of the NRH Therapeutic Garden.
As NRH’s mascot, Vic also supports the essence of the New Value Process, the NRH Network’s customer and employee loyalty program, which draws elements from Disney’s model customer relations program. In 1999 and 2000, nearly 50 NRH staff members traveled to Orlando, Florida, to participate in a Disney Institute training program and brought back a renewed appreciation of the need for excellent customer service. In 2001, the Disney Institute awarded their prestigious "Mousecar Award" to NRH for "successfully embracing, adapting, and implementing their customer service model." This marked only the fourth time in Disney history that a hospital earned a "Mousecar."
The New Value Leaders are now helping NRH to redefine the workplace to ensure the presence of smiling employees, clean facilities, friendly interaction and first-rate customer service.
The New Value Process also has reaffirmed the NRH Network’s missions – quality patient care, rehabilitation research, education and training, assistive technology, and advocacy – and its credo – Adding Life to Years ®. |
