NRH's Dr. Michael Yochelson on Brain Hemorrhage

NRH Brain Injury Director, Dr. Michael Yochelson discusses singer Bret Michaels condition.

NRH Brain Injury Director, Dr. Michael Yochelson, was featured on NBC4 in D.C. to discuss singer and reality TV star Bret Michaels’ condition after his recent brain hemorrhage. Dr. Yochelson explains that it is “essentially a kind of stroke.” Michaels’ brain aneurysm most likely was not a result of his head trauma last year according to Dr. Yochelson. He explains that Michaels’ use of drugs and alcohol in addition to his diabetes could have been factors.

Dr. Yochelson provides insight about the most common signs of brain hemorrhages, like the one Michaels had. The “thunderclap” headache, a very sudden and severe headache, is one of the big warning signs. Dr. Yochelson shares his expertise on how to prevent a similar situation by controlling the risk factors and believes his chances for a recovery are good.
