This video highlights the NRH Brain Injury Program and shows how the care patients receive at NRH help them recover following head trauma. Dr. Michael Yochelson, Medical Director of the Brain Injury Program, discusses the importance of rehabilitation and explains how a team of nurses, therapist and physicians work together to help patients reach their full potential. The Brain Injury Program team uses the latest technology to assist in the rehabilitation process. The mission is to look at the patient’s functional quality and see what NRH can do to help. The program is renowned for innovative care that uses repetition to expand on small, incremental gains in recovery to achieve the best possible results.
NRH is more than just a hospital, it is a network. There are more than 30 outpatient sites across the Washington, D.C. and Baltimore region that help patients continue their recovery after they leave the hospital. Also, NRH has opened a concussion clinic to help treat those with mild to severe traumatic brain injuries. Dr. Yochelson believes this large network provides for the best possible care for the patients. It also allows for physicians and therapists to work together and gain valuable experience, which translates into innovative and advanced treatment for all patients.
