NRH Hand Therapy Program: Regaining Independence

This video highlights the NRH Hand Therapy Program, which is available throughout the NRH Medical Rehabilitation Network at several outpatient rehab sites. NRH hand therapists work with patients who have suffered a hand or elbow injury and may be working to recover from surgery. They also work with patients who have arthritis, a growing problem with the aging Baby Boomer generation. The hand therapy team consists of occupational therapists located at clinics throughout D.C.,  Maryland and Virginia. Their goal is to be easily accessible to all patients who are in need of hand therapy and accommodate each patient’s schedule.

These therapists are committed to helping patients regain independence and use their hands functionally again following an injury. Periodically, they meet together as a team to discuss common practices and share knowledge from across the network. They also meet with referring physicians to stay up-to-date with the latest hand and elbow surgeries for patients who may have had these types of procedures.
