The following video was first introduced at the NRH 25th Anniversary Gala Victory Awards® and highlights the hard work of Ed Eckenhoff, president of NRH until 2009. The video takes you through Ed’s vision of a single rehabilitation hospital located near Capitol Hill and across from the Washington Hospital Center, to a large outpatient network of 30-plus outpatient sites.
Physicians, physical and occupational therapists, nurses, speech language pathologists – everyone associated with NRH through the years understand the concept of putting patients first and how the NRH credo of Adding Life to Years® has helped it rank as one of the top rehabilitation hospitals for 17 years running and as the fourth best hospital overall in the Washington, D.C., region by U.S. News & World Report.
“The amount of care given to patients, who are essentially strangers, is incredible, says Eartha Woods, inpatient physical therapy administrative manager, in the video. NRH Medical Director Michael Yochelson echoes Woods’ statements adding that he is constantly amazed at the work of NRH clinicians who often help completely incapacitated individuals back to their lives. NRH President John Rockwood closes the video discussing where NRH is headed in the future. “We have the foundation to take it to the next level,” says Rockwood. “I hope to see NRH one day named best in the nation.”
