The Super H 5K Run, Walk & Wheel was held on Sunday, September 16, 2007 at Tysons Sport & Health in McLean Virgina. Once again, all proceeds from this special event benefited the NRH BlazeSports Club of Washington, DC.
The National Rehabilitation Hospital has helped countless patients return to active lives after a disabling injury or illness. Many are children, as young as six years old, learning to adjust to their new lives.
BlazeSports America is a national, community-based sports program offering adapted sports activities, expert coaching and special equipment free of charge to both children and adults with physical disabilities. NRH is proud to serve as leader of the BlazeSports DC chapter.
BlazeSports DC offers educational clinics in wheelchair sports at local schools, organizations and hospitals, providing a much-needed opportunities for children to test their physical limitations, gain confidence and meet others. In turn, they experience the benefits of sports and recreation activities as a fun and a productive form of therapy.
These benefits, however, are often out of reach to those with disabilities simply due to the high cost of adaptive sports equipment. The NRH BlazeSports Club is determined to give any individual who wants to play sports the opportunity.
