NRH Regional Rehab is crossing the Chesapeake Bay to bring NRH rehabilitative expertise to the Delmarva Peninsula through a joint venture with the region’s leading hospital, Peninsula Regional Medical Center.
“When the medical center decided to expand its outpatient rehab programming, expertise and community presence, they came to us,” says John Brickley, Vice President of NRH Regional Rehab. “It’s the perfect partnership, with each of us bringing our strengths together to offer quality rehab to those in need of outpatient therapy services in the Salsibury, Maryland region.”
The center, which is scheduled to open in late July, will be managed and staffed by NRH Regional Rehab and housed in the hospital’s brand new ambulatory care building. The center is slated to provide nearly 12,000 patient visits in its first year of operation.
The addition of the Peninsula Outpatient Center brings the total number of NRH outpatient sites to more than 30 centers located throughout the Maryland and Virginia region. Another new site is scheduled to open by the end of 2008 at Harbor Hospital, a MedStar sister facility in South Baltimore, and will focus on services to compliment the hospital’s growing Sports Medicine program, as well as other outpatient therapy specialty program areas. The Harbor Hospital outpatient center will be the eleventh center in the Greater Baltimore metropolitan area.
In 1995 there were just two outpatient centers. “We are proud to partner with not only our sister facility but other area hospitals to grow the NRH outpatient program,” says NRH President and CEO Ed Eckenhoff. “People need and want convenient rehabilitative care and that is what we are bringing them – NRH expertise in rehab medicine and our partner facilities’ knowledge about the region and about their patients’ unique needs. It’s a marriage of strengths. In the end, patients get top quality services in an integrated system of care close to home.”
