Washington, DC – March 29, 2011 – National Rehabilitation Hospital (NRH), a proud member of MedStar Health, is ranked 5th out of 26 hospitals in the Washington, D.C. region in U.S. News & World Report’s first-ever Best Hospitals metro area rankings. The complete list can be found here: www.usnews.com/hospitals.
NRH is the only rehabilitation hospital to be recognized on the list. Other MedStar Health hospitals on the list in the D.C. area besides National Rehabilitation Hospital include: Washington Hospital Center (ranked first) and Georgetown University Hospital (ranked third).
The new rankings recognize 622 hospitals in or near major cities with a record of high performance in key medical specialties, including 132 of 152 hospitals already identified as best in the nation. NRH has consistently been on U.S. News America’s Best Hospitals list for 16 consecutive years.
The new metro area rankings are relevant to a much wider range of healthcare consumers. They are aimed primarily at consumers whose care may not demand the special expertise found only at nationally ranked Best Hospitals.
“We are very proud to be recognized by U.S.News & World Report for our efforts in providing our patients with high quality healthcare,” said John Rockwood, NRH President. “This ranking is a testament to the dedication, commitment and experience of our Team Members at NRH, as well as the support of our community. We are grateful to our colleagues for this recognition and it inspires us to continue to provide our patients with compassionate care and innovative programs and techniques, which will empower them to lead productive, independent lives.”
