Columbia, MD – March 15, 2012 – TriColumbia, the Mid-Atlantic’s premier endurance event production company, announced today the Celebrating Heroes Sprint Triathlon will take place Sunday, June 24, 2012 at Centennial Lake Park in Columbia, Md. The sprint triathlon will consist of a 0.62 mile swim, 17.5 mile bike and 3.4 mile run, and will benefit the MedStar National Rehabilitation Network.
The Celebrating Heroes Sprint Triathlon is an inspirational event celebrating both able-bodied and challenged athletes, from first-time participants and professional triathletes, to wounded warriors and those with disabilities. Proceeds from the event will benefit the MedStar National Rehabilitation Network, ranked by physicians as one of the best in the U.S. for rehabilitation of such disabling conditions such as stroke, spinal cord injury and brain injury, provides opportunities and support to people with physical disabilities so they can pursue active lifestyles through physical fitness and competitive athletics. TriColumbia and MedStar National Rehabilitation Network share the belief that involvement in sports at any level increases self-esteem, encourages independence and enhances the quality of life.

Registration is open for the 2012 Celebrating Heroes Triathlon. Registration is $125 for a single entry for USAT members, $135 for a single entry for non-USAT members, and $225 for a three-person relay team. The prize purse is $4,999 and will be open to all competitors except relay teams.
