Neuropsychology & Rehabilitation Post Doctoral Fellowship

The MedStar National Rehabilitation Hospital in Washington, D.C. invites applicants for our two-year Post Doctoral Fellowship program in Neuropsychology and Rehabilitation, beginning in September 2012. One position is currently available. The fellowship program provides advanced training in neuropsychological assessment, consultation, and treatment of adult patients with a range of neurologic illnesses, including traumatic brain injury, stroke, aneurysms, brain tumors, dementia and other systemic illnesses. Opportunities are provided to receive training with other rehabilitation populations as well. Training opportunities include rotations through the brain injury and stroke rehabilitation programs, day treatment programs, and outpatient neuropsychological consultation and intervention. A broad range of patient populations are seen, with strongest concentration on the brain injury and stroke programs. Didactic experiences are provided through in-house seminars as well as participation in a multi-center video-teleconference-based program. MedStar NRH has an active and growing research environment, and fellows are encouraged to become involved in research during their tenure. The program is designed to be consistent with pursuit of the ABPP-CN certification.

Applicants must have a doctorate in psychology from an accredited program, and have completed an APA accredited clinical psychology internship. Documentation from an applicant’s graduate director or dissertation chairperson may be requested to affirm completion of all doctoral requirements prior to beginning the fellowship. Applicants should also have strong training and clinical experience in neuropsychology during graduate school and internship. The training faculty consists of five neuropsychologists, and our department also includes three health psychologists. There are two current post-doctoral fellows in the program. The start date will be in September 2012.
