Specializing in: Psychological adjustment to illness, injury, and disability; pain management; dementia and aging; the assessment and treatment of mood, anxiety, and characterological disorders.

Dr. Cassidy is a licensed clinical psychologist with interests encompassing a broad range of psychiatric and characterological disorders with adolescents, adults, and older adults.

She completed a postdoctoral fellowship in adult inpatient psychology at the Institute of Living in Hartford, CT, treating individuals with severe emotional and characterological disorders using insight-oriented therapies. She also has experience in the assessment and treatment of residents of long-term care facilities who struggle with emotional, behavioral and cognitive impairments.

At NRH, she treats inpatients and outpatients. She uses relaxation and experiential techniques within the context of symptom-focus psychotherapy to reduce anxiety, to enhance physical rehabilitation performance, and to manage pain. She also specializes in insight-oriented psychotherapy, fostering positive changes in painful patterns of living through self-understanding.

Dr. Cassidy is a member of the American Psychological Association and the divisions of Clinical Geropsychology and Psychoanalysis. She is a part of the spinal cord injury, orthopedic and stroke programs at NRH. She is licensed in the District of Columbia and Maryland.
