Cancer Surgery

Many individuals who have had surgery for cancer can benefit from medical rehabilitation following the acute-care hospital stay. MedStar National Rehabilitation Network offers comprehensive inpatient and outpatient rehabilitation services for these individuals.

MedStar NRH’s cancer surgery rehabilitation services focus on restoring patients to the level of physical endurance and self-sufficiency that they enjoyed in the past. Patient care is directed by board-certified physicians. Together with the patient and family, the rehabilitation team establishes individualized goals, re-evaluates previous goals as needed, monitors patient progress, and coordinates efforts to prepare the patient to leave the inpatient hospital setting.

Cancer surgery rehabilitation services include:

  • Medical evaluation and care
  • Coordination with the referring physician
  • Patient and family education
  • Rehabilitation nursing
