As part of our continuum of care, MedStar NRH is able to offer patients who are discharged from an inpatient stay at our hospital easy access to quality home care through the MedStar Visiting Nurse Association.

MedStar VNA provides a range of in-home services to ensure patients receive the care they need, when and where they need it. MedStar VNA also provides ongoing care for those who are disabled or living with a chronic condition.

Home rehabilitation services include:

• Rehabilitation nursing


• Physical Therapy


• Occupational Therapy


• Speech Therapy


• Activities of Daily Living Support (bathing, grooming, walking and cooking)


• Fall prevention


• Wound and continence care

Home care services allow patients to heal at home as they reclaim their independence. MedStar VNA, however, is just one among many home care agencies in the Washington, DC area. In fact, we encourage patients and their families to choose the agency that works best for them, and we provide all patients requiring home care a list of other quality providers in the area. 

Once a patient is mobile and able to leave their home, they may continue therapy at one of MedStar NRH’s outpatient centers, located throughout the District of Columbia, Maryland and Virginia. (See Locations for a complete list of MedStar NRH Outpatient Centers.)
