Wheelchair Basketball

MedStar NRH offers free wheelchair basketball clinics on Wednesdays from 6:00pm - 8:00 pm at the Emory Recreation Center, 5801 Georgia Ave., NW Washington, DC .

About Wheelchair Basketball

Wheelchair basketball can be played successfully by individuals with a variety of disabilities. The sport is played according to the rules of the Men’s National Collegiate Athletic Association (with a few minor modifications).

Organized wheelchair basketball is governed by the NWBA (National Wheelchair Basketball Association) which currently offers divisions for juniors, collegiate athletes, men and women. Wheelchair basketball is also an officially recognized Paralympic Sport.
