NRH Regional Rehab at Bethesda
A joint service of NRH and Suburban Hospital

Our Bethesda location, convenient from both I-270 and I-495, is the only Montgomery County clinic to feature FCE’s, Work Conditioning and Ergonomics. We are pleased to have as our work injury coordinator Naomi Abrams, MOT, OTR/L . Naomi graduated with honors in 2001 from Chatham College in Pittsburgh with a Masters Degree in Occupational Therapy. She has expertise in ergonomics, treating the injured worker and injury prevention.

Occupational therapists like Naomi bring a unique and often underestimated perspective to the management of work injuries. As an occupational therapist, Naomi naturally comes at the problem from a perspective of task analysis and job requirements – addressing how the worker and the job functionally ‘fit’, as well as what modifications may be necessary for return to work. By focusing from the start on identifying and treating the functional deficits of the worker there can be a safer, faster, and more effective return to the workplace.

With the recent addition of CMS code 97755, Assistive Technology Assessment, we can now perform a majority of the key components of a computer workstation evaluation in the clinic. At our fully equipped ergonomic demo station patients can learn the key components to properly use and set up their work space.

Naomi is joined in Bethesda by other members of our team including Phil Appel, PhD and Drs. Kathleen Fink, John Aseff, Elizabeth Kilgore and Curtis Whitehair.
