The NRH Rehabilitation Research and Training Center (RRTC) on Spinal Cord Injury: Promoting Health and Preventing Complications Through Exercise
The RRTC is a five-year project federally funded by the National Institute on Disability and Rehabilitation Research (NIDRR), a division of the United States Department of Education.
Established in 2003 through a $4 million grant, the RRTC has produced a remarkable body of knowledge about conditions secondary to SCI and their prevention through exercise, which is helping to improve the lives of people with spinal cord injury and disease.
Studies focus on the prevention of cardiovascular disease and osteoporosis in people with SCI, as well as on other secondary conditions such as depression and pain, which significantly affect quality of life.
