Life can change in an instant. It takes only seconds for tragedy to strike, leaving a once vibrant person struggling to relearn the most basic tasks of life. We see it everyday at the National Rehabilitation Hospital. Yet, we are a place of hope, determination, and everyday miracles that allow people to rebuild their lives-Adding life to years®.
As a not-for-profit hospital, we rely on the generous financial contributions of friends and supporters like you to help us achieve tremendous results for our patients. Throughout its history, philanthropy has played a vital role in enabling NRH to create, enhance and sustain vital services and programs for our patients and their families, including:
- Financial assistance to provide medical equipment and extra therapy for those patients whose financial resources have been depleted;
- The Christoph Ruesch Research Center is playing a crucial role in reshaping the future of rehabilitation medicine with dozens of active investigations underway;
- The Therapeutic Garden where patients can relax with family and friends or work with their therapists in a lovely outdoor environment;
- Independence Square®, a unique therapy space where patients and their families can practice their daily living skills in lifelike environments such as a fully functioning kitchen, bedroom, bath, market and business center;
- Driver Training Program sponsored by GEICO where patients with a wide variety of disabilities can learn to drive and gain the independence that only driving a car can provide.
Our dedication to patient care, research, and education & training over the past 24 years has resulted in tremendous programmatic growth and improved outcomes for our patients and their families – the NRH Difference! As we approach our 25th anniversary, we know that philanthropy will need to play an even greater role in the life of NRH so that we will have the resources necessary to fully take advantage of opportunities that lie ahead. Your support today will make a difference in the future of NRH and our patients.
We thank you for considering a gift to NRH and invite you to join us on our continuing journey as a national leader in rehabilitation services.
Sincerely,
 Edward A. Eckenhoff President Emeritus
